This is the National Rifle Association's new ad. Unfortunately, it's worth watching. It doesn't quite urge viewers to use guns to kill liberals, but it's so close. "They" {accusing me and many of you} "use their media to assassinate truth. They use their schools to teach children that our president is another Hitler... they use their ex-president to endorse The Resistance, all to make them march... to scream 'racism' and 'sexism' and 'xenophobia' and 'homophobia', to smash windows, burn cars,
shut down interstates and airports, bully and terrorize the law-abiding until the only option left is for the police to do their jobs and stop the madness. Which they then use as an excuse for their outrage. The only way we can save our country, our freedom, is to fight this violence of lies”.
The *actual* power in this country, of course -- the presidency, both houses of the U.S. Congress, most of the federal judges, 33 governorships, full control over 32 state legislatures, and endless apologists in the "liberal" mainstream media -- is held by the Republicans. Despite their power, most of us don't talk about the Republicans like an existential threat that needs to be met armed. (They *are* an existential threat, but meeting them armed is a terrible idea, both because violence begets violence in an endless destructive cycle, and because they'd kick our asses.)
But that's how they're taught to see us, over and over. If you're wondering why discussions with the right are difficult, this is part of why.
